The 3.0L Duramax inline-six diesel is offered in the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Silverado 1500, and Sierra 1500. Owners report check-engine lights, reduced engine power, and repeat visits for turbo, EGR, and emissions-sensor problems.

What GM's Bulletins Address

  • External oil leaks, including at the turbocharger oil lines (GM bulletin 23-NA-011).
  • EGR and NOx sensor diagnostics, for check-engine codes tied to exhaust gas recirculation and emissions sensors (GM bulletin 25-NA-032).

Bulletins tell technicians how to diagnose and repair a known condition. They are not recalls, and not every vehicle will have the problem.

Common Symptoms

  • Check-engine or "Service Emission System" messages
  • Reduced engine power or limp mode
  • Oil residue around the turbo, burning smell
  • Repeated sensor replacements or software reflashes

When It Becomes a Lemon Law Claim

Emissions and turbo faults often return after a sensor swap or reflash. Three or more attempts at the same problem, or 30+ cumulative days out of service within 24 months of delivery, can trigger the Florida presumption.

How Florida's Lemon Law Applies

Florida's Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act (Fla. Stat. ch. 681) covers new vehicles bought or leased in Florida and used primarily for personal, family, or household purposes. The key rules:

  • 24-month Lemon Law Rights Period, measured from the date the vehicle was first delivered to the consumer.
  • A presumption that the vehicle is a lemon if, during that period, the same defect has been through 3 or more repair attempts and still exists (after the manufacturer's final repair attempt), or the vehicle has been out of service for repair of one or more defects for a cumulative 30 or more days.
  • Written notice to the manufacturer, sent by registered or express mail, is required before the presumption can be used. The manufacturer then gets a final repair attempt.
  • Remedy: a repurchase (refund) or a comparable replacement vehicle, less a reasonable offset for use. The consumer may choose the refund.
  • Exclusions: trucks over 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, off-road vehicles, and motorcycles are not covered.
